Technical Questions - Video Cameras
- Can my camera(s) be manipulated remotely?
- Yes, however, it does require the use of our PTZ Camera, a fully user controlled device that is able to pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ).
- Using "View My Cameras," one can remotely adjust the camera's viewing angle. The stationery camera can only be physically manipulated at the home itself.
- What is the difference between fixed and PTZ cameras?
- A fixed camera simply focuses on a single view to which the camera is physically set. You have the ability to zoom in and out of the view but no other options. A PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) camera, has additional features which allow it to reposition itself to offer additional views. By double tapping the screen while viewing a live video stream, the camera will physically move in the direction of the tap. This will give you a greater field of view then a fixed camera.
- Do the MyShield Camera's have any night-vision capability?
- At this time, that is not a supported feature. If you are interested in those types of camera, please contact customer service at 1-800-ALARM-ME (1-800-252-7663).
- While viewing the camera feed, I lost connection, what should I do?
- Just click the refresh button on the upper right side. The phone will try to re-establish connection with the camera.
- I used the double tap function to move the camera to a view I like, but after a little while the camera moved on its own back to its starting point. Is this normal?
- Yes, the camera will default back to its original location after a while.
- Can I record the video captured by my camera system?
- At this time, the MyShield Camera System provides only live feeds and cannot be stored. If you would like more information on a DVR based system, customer service is available 24 hours a day.
- How many Camera's can I have on my system?
- The MyShield System is capable of supporting up to 4 cameras.
- How are my camera's connected to MyShield?
